Socrates prison on Fillopappou hill across Acropolis |
Tradition and the writings of Plato and Xenophon lead to this cave where allegedly Socrates was kept condemned to death by hemlock.
There is also another cave bearing the same name and located in the park opposite to the chapel of Loubardiaris, just before the begging of the path that leads to the top of the hill of Filopappos.
Both caves have bars and are spacious enough to "accommodate" a person.
Αthens bountary also known as Socrates prison |
These two caves are not the only ones on the hill claiming
Socrates the filosopher |
