World Day against Child Cancer
The World Day against Child Cancer is celebrated every year on February 15, at the initiative of the International Association of Parents with Children with Cancer (ICCCPO), to inform world public opinion for childhood cancers (cancer).
250,000 children worldwide suffer from various forms of cancer, 80% of which in the medium and low income countries. In our country, about 300 children are affected each year by cancer, particularly leukemia. 70% of those treated because of medicinal adequacy and trained scientific personnel. In contrast, in third world countries, mortality rates are very high.
The Greek Pediatric Society of Hematology Oncology, on the occasion of the World Day against Child Cancer passes message of hope and optimism, but certainty that most battles can now be won.
"Every time that passes adds new, powerful and effective weapon in the hands of scientists, in the battle against childhood and adolescent cancer," the Company says.
