Σοκολάτα - Chocolate

Με τον όρο Σοκολάτα περιγράφουμε μία σειρά από προϊόντα που έχουν ως βασικό συστατικό ή προέρχονται από το κακαόδεντρο. Είναι ένα από τα βασικά συστατικά στη ζαχαροπλαστική, σε γλυκά, παγωτά ή μπισκότα. Σοκολάτα επίσης ονομάζεται και ζεστό ρόφημα (αφέψημα) με βάση τη σοκολάτα.

Chocolate is a processed, typically sweetened food produced from the seed of the tropical Theobroma cacao tree. Although cacao has been cultivated by many cultures for at least three millennia in Mexico and Central America,[citation needed] the earliest evidence of use traces to the Mokaya, with evidence of chocolate beverages dating back to 1900 BC. In fact, the majority of Mesoamerican people made chocolate beverages, including the Mayans and Aztecs,who made it into a beverage known as xocolātl, a Nahuatl word meaning "bitter water". The seeds of the cacao tree have an intense bitter taste and must be fermented to develop the flavor.
